Incandescence: Rising Above Darkness Excerpt Chapter #24 Deported Transported
On my way to a remote island off the west coast of British Columbia, I got deported from Canada, which oddly turned out to be the best thing that could have happened.
I would not have thought traveling with my father was a good idea if I knew that he had been molesting a child for years, or that he set me up to be raped by his barroom buddy, but I did not know these things until years later.
When I agreed to live on Valdes Island with him, the worst thing I thought might happen would be isolation. I have always loved being close to nature in serene environments and had an enormous ability to stay inspired creatively. Solitude is fine with me, in fact, usually preferred. So I imagined it would be a fine situation because I had no idea of the danger that he had hidden from everyone.
