Here the place of my birth, I see my story not as my story, but our story. We are all stirred together here in a mixing bowl of destiny. Today, layers of mystery fall away like spent cactus blossoms after giving away their beauty. I am filled with this place and with the recognition I have been blessed by every one of the ten thousand turns of my life, finding its way back to where it began. I am filled with gratitude for this place.
It is an intersection between the north and south, heaven and hell, saints and sinners, thorns and blooms. The cosmos is always watching here. Everyone is exposed to the power of the undiluted elements. The tremendous energy here drags some down and propels some up. It has one of the highest crime rates in the nation, giving the good people plenty to do.
