Incandescence: Rising Above Darkness Excerpt Chapter #35 Dancing Into Communist Party Headquarters

Before my first trip to Europe, my traveling companion asked, “Where do you want to go?”

“Everywhere!”

We charted a thirteen country trip beginning in the United Kingdom, then France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. I was curious about everything—every art museum, the local people, regional food, varied architecture, and different countrysides.

I wanted to see it all! There was only one place, in particular, I felt certain I had to go because it was so vivid in a dream. I researched and discovered it was the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czechoslovakia. As soon as we got there, I saw an artist selling his prints to tourists. When our eyes met, we felt like we already knew each other. There was an immediate mysterious connection, perhaps because we were both artists.
