This art featured in my memoir, Incandescence Rising Above Darkness is included as a moment of serenity between chapters and does not necessarily have any literal connection to the story.
This is an excerpt from Incandescence Rising Above Darkness Chapter #15 Bridge To The Other Side
I walked whenever despair came over me. While walking, I never decided beforehand which way to go, which made me feel safer. Bad men could not predict my movements if I stayed spontaneous, I thought. Free flowing became a way of life—my way to survive. Choosing direction by following the scent of jasmine, a warm breeze. Letting a root growing under the sidewalk cause one shoulder to dip and my body to lean, discovering paths. My daily journey strengthened my connection to intuition and instincts.
Often I would end up at the same freeway overpass. Walking to the center of the bridge, I would stop and look down. My mind would fill with a sense of relief with the thought of letting go. I would imagine myself falling through space. It was intoxicating envisioning myself as a small bird drifting on warm currents or a leaf suspended on a gentle breeze. I was happy in those weightless moments, free from gravity, free from harm, free from all earthly concerns.
