THE ART OF WRITING Free Course Part 3 Commit To Complete

3. Commit To Complete

If we begin a writing project that we want to finish, we should commit to completing it. There are countless interruptions, distractions, and doubts that will come up. To finish any significant writing, we need to commit to completing it by continuing until we get there.

To reach our potential, we must invest in it and accept that challenges will happen. We must keep believing in our self-worth to honor our promise to finish what we commit to complete. We need to accept we are the only ones who can get us to the finish line.

To feel the fulfillment that comes from completing, we must find what inspires us, focus on it, and finesse it, until we finish it. There will be times we will not be inspired. There will be times we doubt our abilities. There are myriad responsibilities, interruptions, distractions, and doubts that will thwart our efforts forever if we let them. We can keep going by beginning with a promise to finish what we start.

To begin writing, we must leap into the unknown territory of our yet-to-be-written words. It takes courage to let our once-silent thoughts become articulated. The written form can endure time and distance. We should appreciate ourselves for summoning the bravery to begin and the perseverance to finish. To stay on the path to completion, we must focus on the intention of the writing. Whether we are writing to grow or challenge ourselves or to share what we believe has value with others, commitment to completion gets us there.

Respect yourself and the reader enough to put your best effort into writing and then find the courage to share it. Writing challenges us to look our fears directly in the eye and keep going. Only a serious commitment to complete can get us past all the possible pitfalls along the path. Continuing until we get there comes from the self-respect that empowers us to achieve completion. In this highly competitive world, believing in the worthiness of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences and putting them into written words can be difficult. It is good to remember that no one else can write our thoughts and feelings. No one can know our stories or tell them as we can. There is no other person that can feel our unedited emotions. There is no one more qualified to share our insights than us. It is best not to let the competitive feared-based controllers into the inner sanctum of our tender creativity. Where we are most vulnerable is where our purest artistic expression resides. Take care to only let those with good intentions have access to the tender place creativity happens. When we are strong enough to keep our hearts so open that any unkindness will pass through with no resistance and nothing to tear.

The more we know about others, the broader our perspective can be. The more informed we are, the wiser our decisions can be. Biological diversity indicates a healthy environment, which is also true of humans. Everyone has something unique to share. The world would benefit if more of us shared our authenticity, unique experiences, feelings, knowledge, and wisdom.
